The Catholic University of Rwanda (CUR) is committed to experiential learning that bridges classroom knowledge with real-world practice. On 6 March 2026, students from the Mathematics & Geography and Economics & Geography programs in the Faculty of Education participated in a field visit to the Huye Industrial Zone and the waste management facilities of Huye District.
CUR FIELD VISIT ENHANCES PRACTICAL LEARNING FOR STUDENTS
Hosted by Huye District authorities and Green Care Rwanda Ltd, the visit offered students first-hand insights into industrial development, employment creation, and environmental management. At the Huye Industrial Park, officials from the Business Development and Employment Unit (BDE) and the Land and Infrastructure Unit (OSC) explained how the industrial zone drives local economic growth, investment, and job opportunities. Students also explored waste management operations, learning modern practices for collection, sorting, and environmental protection to address challenges of urbanization and industrialization.
Through direct observation, professional interactions, and discussions, students strengthened their analytical and geographical skills while connecting academic theories with practical applications.
