Department of:Biomedical laboratory sciences

Biomedical laboratory Science also known as Medical Laboratory Science (Laboratory Medicine) is the branch of medical science specifically concerned with the laboratory diagnosis and monitoring of disease. Only graduates from biomedical science programmes which are accredited and/or approved by the RAHPC are eligible to register as biomedical laboratory practitioners without undertaking further education. The Council’s subject Benchmark guidelines describe the nature of study and the academic standards expected of graduates in specific module/subject areas, and in respect of particular qualifications. They provide a general picture of what graduates in a particular area might reasonably be expected to know, do and understand at the end of their programme of study

Department of:Public Health

When we think about the word "health," we typically associate it with medical matters, so the definition of public health can seem a little confusing. Unlike the practice of medicine in clinical settings like a doctor's office or hospital_public health is not a one-on-one discipline, nor do those in the field practice medicine. Instead, public health focuses on improving and protecting community health and well-being, with an emphasis on prevention among large groups of people. Those with public health degrees keep communities healthy through child wellness, disease prevention, education, disaster relief, clean water, access to healthcare, and much more.

Department of:Human nutrition

The study of human nutrition is interdisciplinary in character, involving not only physiology, biochemistry, and molecular biology but also fields such as psychology and anthropology, which explore the influence of attitudes, beliefs, preferences, and cultural traditions on food choices. Human nutrition further touches on economics and political science as the world community recognizes and responds to the suffering and death caused by malnutrition. The ultimate goal of nutritional science is to promote optimal health and reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease and cancer as well as to prevent classic nutritional deficiency diseases such as kwashiorkor and pellagra.
