‎CUR AND MSU: ADVANCING GLOBAL ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND IMPACT

The Catholic University of Rwanda (CUR), on June 17, 2026, welcomed Prof. Yacob from Morgan State University (MSU) for a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening international academic collaboration. Building on earlier virtual discussions, this visit provided a platform to explore practical avenues for partnership focused on teaching, research, innovation, and institutional capacity development across priority disciplines, including Nursing, Education, Public Health, Social Work and Computer Science.

For students, this emerging collaboration with Morgan State University opens new pathways for enriched learning experiences through virtual classroom interactions, joint academic activities, and exposure to diverse teaching methodologies. Students will benefit from expanded global perspectives, improved digital competencies, and enhanced employability through internationally connected academic programmes.

‎For academic staff, the partnership offers significant professional development opportunities, including faculty-to-faculty collaboration, joint curriculum design, co-authored research publications, and participation in international seminars and conferences. The planned engagement of visiting professors and potential Fulbright-supported lecturers will further strengthen teaching quality and research output at CUR, while expanding staff global academic networks. ‎For the wider community, this collaboration reinforces CUR’s commitment to socially responsive education. Joint research and knowledge exchange will contribute to addressing pressing societal challenges in health, education, and technology, while promoting innovation-driven solutions relevant to Rwanda and the region. The partnership also enhances CUR’s role as a catalyst for sustainable development through applied research and community engagement.

This strategic dialogue marks an important step toward a formal Memorandum of Understanding that will consolidate shared priorities and establish a structured framework for long-term collaboration and mutual academic growth.
