On May 21, 2025, the Catholic University of Rwanda (CUR) had the honor of hosting a
high-level delegation from The Catholic University of America (CUA), led by Ms. Mary Ellen
Mahoney, Associate Vice President of Graduate and International Enrollment Strategy and
Dean of Graduate Admission. This strategic visit follows the Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) signed between the two institutions in March 2025 and marks a major milestone in the
implementation phase of this transformative partnership.
STRENGTHENING INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA, DC

The visit was centered on discussing the key details of CUR-CUA collaboration, with a special focus on dual degrees (where some CUR's students will complete their studies at The Catholic University of America, WashingtonDC), joint research, student and staff mobility, and digital learning tools.

This partnership brings substantial benefits to CUR students, including the opportunity to participate in student exchange programs, potential access to CUA's digital learning resources, and pathways to pursue dual degrees with one of the top Catholic universities in the United States. Students in Nursing, Computer Science, Theology, Social Sciences, and Business will especially benefit from enriched learning experiences and global exposure

CUR academic staff will also gain from this collaboration through potential initiatives towards joint research projects, staff mobility and development workshops, and the opportunity to pursue advanced degrees (master's, PhD, postdoctoral) at CUA. These initiatives will be designed to build institutional capacity and foster academic excellence at CUR.

This partnership reflects CUR's continued commitment to delivering high-quality education rooted in Catholic values and expanding global opportunities for its academic community.
