ANNUAL PILGRIMAGE TO KIBEHO: WALKING TOGETHER WITH SAINT MARY
On 8 February 2026, the Catholic University of Rwanda (CUR) held its annual pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Kibeho, bringing together students, academic staff, and administrative personnel from all campuses in a spirit of prayer and communion. This pilgrimage is a long-standing tradition that reflects CUR’s Catholic identity and its devotion to Saint Mary, Mother of the Word (Bikiramariya Nyina wa Jambo).
The pilgrimage aimed to foster spiritual renewal, deepen faith, and encourage brotherhood through prayer, and participation in the Holy Eucharist. It also provided an opportunity to reflect on the message and history of Kibeho, calling all participants to conversion, peace, and responsibility in their personal, academic, and professional lives.
For students, the pilgrimage was a moment of inner growth, moral formation, and guidance in life choices. For staff members, it offered spiritual refreshment, renewed commitment to service, and strengthened bonds of fraternity across the university community.
Through this annual pilgrimage, CUR continues to promote holistic education that integrates intellectual excellence with spiritual formation, entrusting its mission and future to the maternal intercession of Saint Mary.
