Project Description

The Catholic University of Rwanda (CUR) is pleased to announce the strengthening of its academic partnership with NLA University College (Norway) through an international mobility and cooperation project focused on education, research, and capacity building. Building on an existing collaboration in sustainability and teacher education research, the project seeks to establish student exchanges, staff mobility, and the development of joint academic programs.

The initiative aims to provide CUR students and staff with access to international learning environments, innovative teaching methodologies, and collaborative research opportunities. Through exchange programs, students will study specialized courses such as Global and Comparative Education and Educating Traumatized and Vulnerable Children, gaining valuable skills in global citizenship, inclusive education, educational governance, sustainability, and trauma-informed pedagogy.

The project will particularly benefit students from disadvantaged backgrounds, including refugees and learners from low-income families, by providing them with opportunities for international academic exposure and professional growth. Participants will strengthen their intercultural competencies, leadership skills, and employability while contributing to educational transformation in Rwanda.

For both partner universities, the cooperation enhances internationalization, promotes joint research, supports staff professional development, and increases global academic visibility. The collaboration will also foster joint publications, conference participation, and the future development of a Master's program in Education.

Beyond the universities, the project contributes to the educational and socio-economic development of Rwanda and Norway by promoting inclusive education, peacebuilding, sustainability, global citizenship, and innovation. Through the exchange of knowledge, values, and experiences, the partnership supports the preparation of globally competent graduates capable of addressing contemporary educational challenges and contributing to sustainable development in their respective countries.
