The DeCoDe project is a groundbreaking initiative that addresses colonial legacies and promotes narrative change in decolonization processes across Burundi, Rwanda, and Germany. This transformative project makes visible diverse perspectives on colonial legacies from various stakeholder groups.
The initiative engages teachers, students, youth from civil society organizations, church leaders, and academic communities in critical dialogue about historical narratives and their contemporary implications. Through collaborative research and dialogue, the project seeks to develop more inclusive and accurate historical narratives.
Key activities include curriculum analysis, stakeholder workshops, research collaborations, publication of findings, and the development of educational resources that reflect multiple perspectives on colonial histories and their ongoing impacts.
